What is hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating is a long-term condition that can affect the whole body, especially areas such as your armpits, hands, feet, face, chest, and groin.  It can be dealt with very effectively through the use of anti-ageing injectables.

Anti-ageing injectables block the sweat secretion by the sweat glands because of their anticholinergic effects.

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating is a condition that may cause great emotional distress and compromise a person’s working and social life.

This long-term condition can occur due to:

  1. another condition that you are suffering from
  2. a side effect of the medication you’re taking
  3. or for no obvious reason

It is a common condition that can affect the whole body. The most commonly affected areas are under the armpits, hands, feet, face, chest, and groin.

Although it is normal to sweat if you exercise or get hot, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) occurs when the body doesn’t need to cool down.

Anti-ageing injectables, commonly known for smoothing fine lines, are also highly effective in treating hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

When small amounts of botulinum toxin are injected into areas such as the underarms, palms, or soles of the feet, it works by temporarily blocking the signals that activate the sweat glands. This significantly reduces perspiration in the treated area, often for several months at a time.

The procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and offers a life-changing solution for those struggling with unwanted or excessive sweating, helping you feel more comfortable and confident in everyday situations.

Hyperhidrosis is thought to be caused by a problem with the part of the nervous system that controls sweating, and can be triggered by the following:

  • Pregnancy or menopause
  • Anxiety
  • Certain medications
  • Low blood sugar
  • Infections
  • Overactive thyroid gland

But sometimes it occurs without an obvious trigger.

If you find your excessive sweating is causing you embarrassment or is impacting on your everyday life, hyperhidrosis treatment is a safe and convenient option to effectively manage this condition.

Unfortunately there is no cure for hyperhidrosis, but it is possible to manage the symptoms of the condition.

For example, wearing loose–fitting white or black coloured clothes can minimize the signs of sweating. Socks can help to absorb moisture and wearing leather shoes rather than enclosed boots or sports shoes can help too.

In addition, avoiding drinking alcohol or eating spicy food can help to minimise your symptoms.

Your hyperhidrosis consultation will be with a Doctor or nurse who will assess your condition and determine the most appropriate form of treatment.

During your consultation, they will be able to answer any questions you may have about your hyperhidrosis and give you personalised advice. If they decide your condition is treatable, they will be able to carry out the procedure in the clinic.
